Church Relations Chair: Sandra Clements

  • Cultivate Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity's relationship with local churches
  • Expand existing faith partnerships
  • Build new faith partnerships
  • Develop church “coalitions” for house sponsorships
  • Develop on-going plan of communication with community churches

  • Attend meetings as needed/determined by chair
  • Establish contacts in the professional community
  • Help procure building materials
  • Help procure estimates, sub-contractors as needed
  • Assist construction supervisor, assistant as needed
     
  • Land Acquisition Chair: vacant
  • Attend meetings as needed/determined by chair
  • Identify potential property donors
  • Work with board of directors in defining focus areas or neighborhoods
  • Acquire building sites within focused areas
  • Evaluate potential property sites
  • Select and procure building sites
     
  • Family Selection Chair: Linda Hayes
  • Attend meetings as needed/determined by chair
  • Understand and promote HFH’s family selection philosophy and procedures
  • Review and evaluate applications
  • Make home visits
  • Recommend potential partner families to board of directors
  • Ensure confidentiality of applicants and application information
     
  • Family Support Chair: Kim Lake
  • Attend meetings as needed/determined by chair
  • Assist families throughout the entire process of becoming homeowners
  • Support families as a friend and information source
  • Procure and/or become family sponsor/advocate/friends (SAF)
  • Understand HFH family selection process, “sweat equity” philosophy and guidelines
  • Help to develop, provide homeowner training sessions
     
  • ReStore Committee Chair: Doug Hardman
  • Attend meetings as needed/determined by chair
  • Oversee feasibility, start-up and operation of Re-Store
  • Develop long-range plan for Re-Store’s growth
  • Oversee Re-store employees, inventory, policies and procedures.
     
  • Volunteer Recruitment Chair: Vivian Kost
  • Attend meetings as needed/determined by chair
  • Recruit volunteers as needed for house dedications, annual Appreciation Dinner, other affiliate events
        and activities
  • Help to co-ordinate work camp and group volunteers’ work site schedules and accommodations while
        in Huntington
  • Develop systems and schedules for organizing families and volunteers for construction
  • Develop volunteer programs such as youth and seniors.
