Our Mission
Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical, Chrisitian ministry, whose mission is to partner with qualified families in need, and provide them the opportunity for safe, decent, and affordable housing.
Located in Huntington, West Virginia and established in 1990, Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity provides decent and affordable housing for qualified low-income families in need with a no-profit, no-interest loan. The Huntington affiliate is one of 25 in the state and one of 2,200 nationwide.
To date Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity has provided 63 homes for residents of Cabell County who were in dire need of better housing. The average cost of a three bedroom Habitat house is about $45,600. Our partner families are required to log a pre-determined amount of sweat equity hours into the construction of Habitat projects, including work on their own Habitat house. These houses are then sold to the partner families at no profit, and are financed through affordable, interest-free mortgage loans from the affiliate.
