This year, Huntington Area Habitat for Humanity hosted a total of 45 students from four different colleges and universities to volunteer on Habitat’s 68th house. The home, which is located at 1920 Artisan Avenue, was the fifth house to be constructed in conjunction with the city of Huntington’s Artisan Avenue Re-Development Project. Accommodations for the students was graciously provided by the First Presbyterian Church in downtown Huntington. Throughout the week, there were countless opportunities for the students to connect with members of the community. The affiliate had many activities planned for the students, and had individuals and local businesses welcome these students to our area.
HAHFH’s mission is to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to qualified low-income families in the Huntington area. In its 18 year of service to the community the affiliate has constructed 64 homes moved 220 people, 125 of which are children out of substandard housing. |
